March 2015
A Spring Preview has arrived!! As usual, the change in season brings on changes at our properties, which includes spring clean-up and tenant build outs. The team at Crossroads have even made some changes within our office, stop by and visit if you are in the area to see our reconfigured space.
We have an intern from the University of St. Thomas with us on Fridays through mid-May. Zach Houle is a 2012 Stillwater graduate and in the Real Estate and Entrepreneurship program at UST. We hope to introduce him to many of our tenants that can share their entrepreneurial experiences.
Recycling efforts continue at all of our properties. Read below for details on a grant that St. Croix Hospice received to improve their recycling efforts.

St. Croix Hospice was recently granted a BizRecycling grant from the Ramsey/Washington County Resources Recovery Project. The grant will be used to purchase a dishwasher and reusable dishes and cutlery to reduce the disposable dishes and cutlery they currently use, thus reducing the amount of trash generated by the office. They worked with Stephanie Wang, the Community Development Technician-Recycling for the City of Woodbury, Greta Rittenhouse of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and Victoria Born-Doody of Crossroads Properties to put the grant application together.
St. Croix Hospice recently completed an expansion and renovation of their office space, combining two offices and 87 people into one space. The employees were very enthusiastic about the recycling program started by Crossroads Properties and wanted to build on this enthusiasm and the new recycling habits created by reducing the large amount of disposables used in the office. They estimate they will be able to reduce the trash generated by more than half with reusable dishes, as well as reducing the expense of disposables. The dishwasher and dishes purchased will add a welcome finishing touch to the renovation of the office, while helping keep our planet healthy.

Each March, Minnesota FoodShare directs the March Campaign, the largest food drive in the state which restocks over 300 food shelves across Minnesota. It encourages thousands of faith communities, companies, schools, and community groups to run local fund and food drives to aid in the effort. The success of Valley Outreach’s March Campaign has significant impact on what they can provide their clients over the summer months. These months mark a critical time, when students no longer benefit from free and reduced-cost meals at their school, and families struggle to provide the cost difference.
During the month of March all of the Lake Elmo Bank offices (Oakdale, Stillwater and Lake Elmo) will be collecting sites. Again this year we’ve made it a bit interesting and have a friendly competition going on with Bayport Bank. Ultimately this is two community bank’s working together to feed our communities. But, winning is always fun too! The winning bank that collects the most food and/or cash donations will be served a bagel breakfast by the losing bank President. Last year, thanks to your VERY generous contributions, we alone raised $5,500 in food and donations…and yes, beat Bayport Bank!!
Competition is based on weight collected. For every $1 collected, we get credit for one pound of food. If you so choose, checks can be made payable to: Valley Outreach. Food items most in need are, peanut butter, rice, salad dressing and oils, canned veggies and fruit and canned meats.
Please pass this on to anyone that you think may want to help us in collecting as much as we can for Valley Outreach. Please help us to fill our lobbies and help those in our community. Thank you all in advance for your consideration!
